Posted Date :   05 May 2015 02:45:25 PM

Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn, admired for her talent, beauty and style, would have been 86 today. Twitter celebrated with a hashtag and #HappyBirthdayAudreyHepburn trended briefly today.

Born on May 4, 1929, the British actress starred in movies such as Roman Holiday (1953), War and Peace (1956), Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), My Fair Lady (1964) and Wait Until Dark (1967) and is considered among the greatest film legends in the history of cinema. Ms Hepburn's outfits both on and off-screen were widely copied and her 'French pleat' from Breakfast at Tiffany's is considered among the most influential hairstyles ever.

Audrey Hepburn was nominated for five Oscars. She won the Best Actress Oscar in 1953 for her debut performance in Roman Holiday and was given an honorary Oscar for her humanitarian work posthumously in 1993.

Ms Hepburn died of cancer in 1993.
