Why we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi?

"Ganesh Chaturthi" is a Hindu Festival. It is celebrated in the honour of "Lord Ganesha's Birthday". He is the son of "Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati". This festival is celebrated for ten days.

 
Lord ganesha is known as "Deva Of Wisdom and Lord Of arts and science" and such type of 108 names. He is also known as "Ganapati and vinayaka".
 
In all hindu sacred ceremonies Lord Ganesha is prayed at first.
 
Two diffirent stories are told about Lord Ganesha:-
 
1. Goddess Parvati created ganesha with dust of her body and set him at the door as a guardWhile she finishes bath. At that time Lord shiva came back to home who has gone out but Ganesha stopped them from entering the home. So angry Shiva Cut his head. Parvati engered and Shiva promised her that Ganesh will live again. The Devas who went to search for a dead Person's head, find a elephants head. Shiva fixed the head on child and the child was Alive.
 
2. Ganesha was created by Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati at the request of Devas to help them to kill the Rakshas.
 
This year the festival is starting on 25th August.
